On December 24th, the reporter learned from Nanchuan Industrial Park of Xining Development Zone that yesterday, Qinghai Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, Xining Municipal Government, Xining Economic and technological Development Zone, Qinghai Taifeng leading Lithium Energy Technology Co., Ltd. signed an investment cooperation agreement on the "annual output of 160000 tons of high-energy density lithium materials intelligent manufacturing base project" to jointly create an intelligent manufacturing base of high-energy density lithium materials.
It is reported that the project landed in Nanchuan Industrial Park of Xining Economic and technological Development Zone, with a total investment of 3 billion yuan and the construction of an intelligent manufacturing base of 160000 tons of high-energy and dense lithium materials in the first phase.
According to public data, China's lithium salt lake resources are mainly distributed in Qinghai and Tibet, among which 10 lithium mining areas with mineral reserves have been included in Qinghai salt lake resources, with lithium chloride reserves of 24.4738 million tons. There are two super-large deposits in Chaerhan Salt Lake and Bieltan mining area, and three super-large deposits in Xitai, East Taijinel Lake and Yiliping mining area. The lithium content of 10 salt lakes reaches 8.92 million t of industrial grade lithium resources, which can be developed and utilized.
According to the guidance on promoting the Sustainable and healthy Development of Lithium Power Industry in Qinghai Province issued by the people's Government of Qinghai Province, by 2025, the production scale of lithium carbonate in Qinghai Province will reach 170000 tons / year, and the production capacity of lithium battery core will reach 60GWh/ year. Among them, the power battery capacity reached 25GWh/ year, 3C and energy storage battery capacity reached 35GWh/ year.
The reporter learned that Qinghai Taifeng was first established in 2010 and is a subsidiary of Peking University, relying on the unique resource advantages of Qinghai Salt Lake. at present, the company has formed an annual output of 20,000 tons of lithium carbonate, 30,000 tons of lithium cathode materials, nearly 500 million square meters of lithium high-end diaphragm industry base.
Gao Li, leading chairman of Qinghai Taifeng, said that the signed intelligent manufacturing base project with an annual production capacity of 160000 tons of high-energy density lithium materials is scheduled to start in the spring of 2021, be debugged at the end of the year, and put into production in the first quarter of 2022. After the project is completed and reached production, the annual sales revenue will exceed 12 billion yuan. At that time, Taifeng will be in the forefront of domestic lithium cathode material manufacturers.
At the signing ceremony, Gao Li also said that research institutions such as McKinsey in the United States believe that global shipments of power lithium batteries will reach 116 billion watt-hours in 2025, while energy storage batteries will require hundreds of millions of kilowatt-hours. It can be predicted that in the next five to ten years, the lithium industry will enter a period of explosive growth, and the world will enter an era of 100 million kilowatt-hours. It is optimistically estimated that the annual global demand for lithium batteries will reach 300-500 million kilowatt-hours. It is estimated that 2.2 million tons of cathode materials and 800000 tons of lithium carbonate will be needed for 100 million kilowatt hours. In 2019, the global output of cathode materials is about 800000 tons, while the capacity of lithium carbonate is only about 300000 tons. There is a huge gap between cathode materials and lithium carbonate, which will lead to the explosive growth of upstream materials.
