






According to reports, BYD has announced that it will deliver 470 pure electric buses to the (Bogota) in Bogota, Colombia, which will be the largest fleet of electric buses delivered by BYD in the Americas.
Delivery will be completed in the first quarter of 2021, vehicles will be used on 40 bus routes, a total of 302000 passengers will enjoy zero-emission bus services. Compared with diesel-powered buses, BYD's pure electric bus fleet can reduce emissions of 12500 tons of carbon dioxide and 2.5 tons of dust particles per year.
BYD will produce electric buses at its factories in Nanjing and Hangzhou, and upon completion of production, the vehicles will be shipped to the port of Buenaventura in Bogota, (Buenaventura Port). After the first batch of 120 buses was purchased by Celsia, the vehicles were delivered to the local bus operator Gran Americas Fontibon I SAS, which promised to operate for 15 years.
Each electric bus is equipped with driver's safety cockpit, TV, WiFi, surveillance camera, intelligent transportation system, mobile phone charging USB interface, disabled access platform and other facilities to provide convenience for drivers and passengers.
In 2012, BYD entered the Colombian market and achieved several milestones: in 2013, the company built South America's first all-electric taxi fleet and entered Bogota's BRT system in 2017. In 2018, BYD also delivered 64 electric buses to Medellin.
