Alcoa will stop production cuts at the SanCipro á n aluminum smelter in Spain after the Galicia High Court invalidated the collective dismissal.

In October, the company announced that it would cut 228000 tons of annual capacity at the smelter and continue to fire employees after four months of negotiations, and worker representatives filed a lawsuit in court.

Now, strikes at the SanCibo á n aluminum smelter and alumina refineries will have a negative impact on fourth-quarter pre-tax income of about $10 million.

Alcoa said it believes its actions are sincere and fully abide by the law. Due to major and permanent structural problems, the SanCibo á n smelter still needs to be reorganized.
