A few days ago, foreign media reported that, PSA (Peugeot Citroen Group and FCA (Fiat Chrysler Group) are accelerating the process of merger of the two companies, it is reported that the two sides may formally complete the merger in January 2021, the new group will be called Stellantis.

The news about the merger of PSA and FCA has been going on for a long time. According to foreign media reports, the EU antitrust approval is expected to be approved by the end of 2020. Even if the time is delayed, the two companies still hope to hold a meeting on January 4, 2021 to win the approval of shareholders. If as reported, with the successful merger of the two companies, the overall operation will save the company 5 billion ou per year, and representatives of both sides confirmed the goal of completing the merger in the first quarter of next year.

Stellantis will announce its complete management structure as early as January 2021, and FCA CEO Mike Manley is expected to continue to hold key positions. Carlos Tavares, CEO of PSA, has been appointed CEO of Stellantis. However, according to previous reports, the merger of PSA and FCA is actually not a simple "merger", but an intention to make an acquisition, of which PSA is the acquirer.

Editor's comments:

At present, the combined market capitalization of FCA and PSA is about 42 billion ou yuan. If the merger is successfully completed, Stellantis Group will become the fourth largest automobile group in the world. At the same time, the merger of the two will also open up the circulation and sharing of its products in European and American markets. But for the Chinese market, both Peugeot / Citroen and Fiat / Chrysler are mediocre. So, after the establishment of Stellantis, what strategic changes have they made to the Chinese market? It may take time to give an answer.
