SMM12 March 14: a few days ago, Russian aluminum company (Rusal) announced that its five aluminum smelters have been certified by the Aluminum Management Initiative (ASI). Boguchansky aluminum smelter (BoAZ), Bratsk aluminum smelter (BrAZ), Krasnoyarsk aluminum smelter (KrAZ), KUBAL (Kubikenborg aluminum AB) and Sayanogorsk aluminum smelter (SAZ) have passed certification audits for ASI performance standards and the ASI production and marketing supervision chain.
So far, Rusal has a total of 9 aluminum plants that meet the requirements of ASI. In 2019, Rusal headquarters and three production sites: Boksit Timana (bauxite mining), Urals aluminum smelter (alumina refining) and Irkutsk aluminum smelter (aluminum smelting, foundry and alloy production) were certified to ASI standards.
Evgenii Nikitin, chief executive of Rusal, said the expansion of ASI certification was further proof of the implementation of best ESG practices. Despite the turmoil in the global market, Rusal always adheres to the principle of sustainable development and strives to actively participate in new low-carbon emissions and minimize the impact on the environment.
