SMM News: a few days ago, Danish renewable energy giant rsted announced that offshore wind farms Borssele 1 and 2 in the North Sea of the Netherlands have all been put into operation.
According to reports, the two offshore wind farms are equipped with 94 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW turbines with a total capacity of 752MW (MW), which is the second largest offshore wind farm in the world and the largest offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. It will provide enough green energy to power 1 million Dutch homes.
"this is an important milestone in the green transformation of zub rsted," said Henrik Poulsen, CEO and president of rsted. With Borssele 1 and 2 as the first step, we hope to make a significant contribution to the transition of the Netherlands from fossil fuels to renewable energy. We are proud to have completed this large clean energy project on time and within budget during the COVID-19 pandemic, while we continue to focus on health and safety. "
Flemming Thomsen, senior project manager for Borssele 1 and 2 at the zub rsted, added: "together with our suppliers, our construction team has successfully installed the wind farm in less than nine months. By introducing other health and safety measures at sea and on land, we were able to continue construction during the global pandemic. "
