Vedanta suspends annual production of 250000 tons of zinc concentrate at Gamsberg zinc mine in South Africa

SMM11 March 19: it is reported that (VZI), Vedanta Zinc International, a subsidiary of Vedanta, has suspended all mining activities at its Gamsberg zinc mine in South Africa.

Mainly because Vedanta (Vedanta) trapped 10 workers due to the accident, eight workers have been rescued and are still searching for two miners whose whereabouts are unknown.

The Gamsberg mine opened in early 2019. VZI is the largest owner, with 69.6 per cent of the shares, while Exxaro Resources has 24.4 per cent. The remaining 6% is held by the employee stock ownership plan.

Gamsberg will produce 250000 tons of zinc concentrate per year.
