SMM News: in order to accelerate the breakthrough and transformation of prospecting results of sedimentary bauxite in Guangxi, learn from the experience and technology of prospecting and mining and smelting of sedimentary bauxite in Guizhou. From November 6 to 7, Zhang, a party member and chief engineer of the Geology and Mineral Exploration and Development Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region, conducted a field investigation of sedimentary bauxite in Zunyi area of Guizhou by the Department of Marine Geology, Guangxi 274 Geological team, Guangxi fourth Geological team, Guangxi Geological Survey Institute and other relevant personnel.

Accompanied by Jin China, chief engineer of Guizhou Nonferrous Metals and Nuclear Industry Geological Exploration Bureau, the investigation team successively inspected the Tuanxi bauxite mining area in Tuanxi Town, Zunyi City and the Wachangping sedimentary bauxite mining area in Wuzhengdao area. the investigation group observed and analyzed in detail the characteristics of orebodies, ore-bearing rock series, sedimentary environment and paleo-weathering crust landforms beneath the two mining areas, and took samples according to the needs of the study. Zhangqi drilling site organized the investigation team to sort out and summarize the orebody characteristics, sedimentary facies, ore-forming model and ore-forming material sources, and compared with the geological characteristics of sedimentary bauxite in Guangxi. The difference of ore-forming geological conditions between Zunyi sedimentary bauxite and western Guangxi sedimentary bauxite is analyzed and summarized.

After the end of the field investigation, the investigation team held a forum with the Guizhou Provincial Bureau of Geological Exploration of Nonferrous Metals and Nuclear Industry. At the meeting, Jin China introduced to the investigation group in detail the results of bauxite prospecting, mining and smelting in Guizhou Province in recent years, as well as the effects of several different geophysical methods in the exploration of sedimentary bauxite. Subsequently, the two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on their next development plans and key points of prospecting and exploration, and at the same time expressed their willingness to further strengthen cooperation and promote breakthroughs in ore prospecting.

According to the medium-and long-term plan for the second entrepreneurship of Guangxi aluminum industry, the output of alumina in the region will reach 12 million tons by 2025. In order to provide reliable bauxite resources guarantee for the second venture of Guangxi aluminum industry, in 2020, our Bureau of Mining organized and implemented the first batch of large-scale sedimentary bauxite exploration projects and made a breakthrough in prospecting. The results of this investigation will provide strong guidance for the next step of sedimentary bauxite exploration, mining, separation and smelting technology in Guangxi.

Middle East Conflict Disrupts Shipping, Spikes Global Costs and Insurance Premiums
The conflict in the Middle East has disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, triggering a سلسلة of chain reactions: global shipping costs have surged sharply, and war risk insurance premiums for vessels have also risen rapidly. Moreover, shipping companies must also weigh freight rate factors. According to industry insiders, current freight rates have already skyrocketed to 11-12 times their original level.
