Hydro Alunorte Alumina Refinery is increasing production

SMM10 March 30: Hydro recently reported that profit before basic interest and tax in the third quarter of 2020 was 1.407 billion Norwegian kroner ((EBIT)), up from 1.366 billion Norwegian kroner in the same period last year. Sales of the squeeze solution have increased compared with the previous quarter, and the cost is in good shape. The expansion and maintenance of the Paragominas bauxite pipeline in Brazil has been completed and the Alunorte alumina refinery is increasing production.

Hydro halted operations on the pipeline to transport bauxite from Paragominas to Alunorte for long-term maintenance to replace some of the pipes earlier than planned, temporarily halting Paragominas production and reducing Alunorte production to 50 per cent of full capacity. Paragominas resumed production on October 8th. Alunorte is now increasing production to its target capacity.
