SMM News: Tesla's automobile production capacity is about to reach the threshold of 1 million vehicles. Tesla's third-quarter results showed that its California plant's Model 3 and Model Y production increased by 25 per cent to 500000 vehicles from the previous two plants in Shanghai and California, which had a combined capacity of 840000 vehicles, so it can be estimated that Tesla's total global capacity may be close to the level of 1m vehicles.
In addition to the two best-selling models, the Model 3 and Model Y, the Fremont factory in California is also responsible for producing the Model S and Model X, which are well known to Chinese consumers, which have been imported into the Chinese market. The further increase in capacity at the California plant is that Tesla expanded the Model Y production line in July to cope with the increasing demand for orders.
Model Y is the first medium-sized all-electric SUV, car launched by Tesla, which continues the design language of Model 3 in appearance and interior design, but is better than Model 3 in space performance because of its larger body size. Now the Model Y has been delivered in the North American market, and, Model Y shows on Tesla's Chinese official website that it will start production as soon as 2021, of which the pre-price of the long-lasting all-wheel drive version is 488000 yuan, with a range of 505km under WLTP conditions; the pre-price of the Performance high-performance version is 535000 yuan, and the driving range under WLTP conditions is 480km.
The Model Y is another popular model that Tesla has high hopes for after the Model 3. Elon Musk has publicly declared that the global demand for the, Model Y is twice that of the Model 3, which will help Tesla achieve annual sales of more than one million. Tesla will continue to speed up the factory's production capacity before achieving a higher sales target.
