SMM News: in order to further implement the new "Law on Prevention and Control of Environmental pollution by solid waste" and other laws and regulations, effectively prevent and control environmental risks, grasp the generation and whereabouts of waste lead storage batteries in the area under their jurisdiction, and improve the standard collection and disposal rate of waste lead storage batteries as the goal, from October 10 to the end of November, Lanshan Ecological Environment Branch jointly with the District Public Security Bureau, the District Traffic and Transport Bureau, and the District Commercial Bureau carried out special inspection and rectification actions on waste lead storage batteries in the area under their jurisdiction.
The Joint Action team mainly conducted on-site inspections of waste lead battery collection pilot enterprises and waste lead battery production enterprises (including automobile maintenance enterprises, electric vehicle maintenance sites, etc.) in the area. The inspection team adopts the methods of inspecting the site, accounting, management system, transfer couplet, etc., to establish a rectification account for the problems found, propose rectification measures and time limit, and require the problem unit to make rectification immediately. The environmental violations found by investigation shall be promptly put on file for investigation and punishment, and those suspected of committing crimes shall be handed over to the public security organs in a timely manner. In accordance with the law, we will severely crack down on environmental crimes such as illegal dismantling of waste lead batteries, "underground" lead smelting black workshops, black factories, and so on. At the same time, supervise the rectification and reform of the relevant enterprises to ensure that the rectification and reform are in place.
In the next step, Lanshan Ecological and Environment Bureau will continue to strengthen environmental supervision over waste lead battery collection pilot enterprises and waste lead battery production enterprises and other hazardous waste, strengthen law enforcement supervision, severely crack down on environmental violations, and resolutely put an end to illegal disassembly, discharge, dumping, and disposal of hazardous waste.
