SMM9 March 28: it is reported that since last Friday, residents of Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have been in panic and fear, and hundreds of separatist rebels have invaded Lubumbashi, a mining town in southeastern Katanga province of the DRC.
Local government officials said the attack killed two police officers and one soldier, killed 16 attackers and injured several others and captured them.
Katanga is rich in copper and cobalt, and insurgents raised the Katanga flag in Lubumbashi to secure secession from the mineral-rich region.
Now that the situation is under control, the mayor called on the public to remain calm and do business freely.
