SMM9 March 27: Zijin Mining Serbian copper smelter (RTB) reconstruction project was suspended, according to local media reports, mainly due to excessive sulfur dioxide emissions.

According to Zijin Mining, the main reason for excessive sulfur dioxide emissions is equipment failure.

The company said it would immediately inspect the relevant equipment to solve the above problems.

Zijin Mining plans to complete the reconstruction of the smelter by the end of December 2022.
