Operating rates across licensed smelters of secondary lead in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and Guizhou averaged 55.8% in the week ended September 25, up 0.3 percentage point from the previous week, showed an SMM survey.

SHANGHAI, Sep 25 (SMM) – Operating rates across licensed smelters of secondary lead in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and Guizhou averaged 55.8% in the week ended September 25, up 0.3 percentage point from the previous week, showed an SMM survey.

The average operating rates in Anhui and Jiangsu remained unchanged at 44.1% and 66.7% respectively, as shortage of battery scrap deterred smelters from lifting operations.

The average operating rate in Henan lost 1.6 percentage points on the week to 68.6%, as Henan Jinli is still under maintenance.

The average operating rate in Guizhou gained 3.3 percentage points to 53.6%, as Guizhou Jinlong put more capacities into operation after technology upgrading.

Secondary lead output is expected to extend gains next week as Guizhou Jinlong will complete technology and Henan Jinli will complete its maintenance. But Jiangsu New Chunxing may cut output as its battery scrap stocks are running low.
