Iron ore shipments in the Great Lakes decreased by 40.3% in August compared with the same period last year.

SMM: a recent report released by the Great Lakes Transport Association (LCA) shows that iron ore shipments in the Great Lakes region in August were 3.6 million tons, a decrease of 40.3% compared with the same period last year. Shipments in August were also down 37.9% from the five-year average.

Iron ore shipments totaled 24.3 million tonnes from January to August, down 25.9 per cent from the same period a year earlier. It is nearly 23.2% lower than the five-year average.
