[Freeport creates Copper Mark in production transactions to fulfill responsible production in the Mining Industry] recently, US copper giant Freeport-McMoran (Freeport-McMoRan) announced its commitment to "Copper marked (Copper Mark)", a global standard that ensures responsible production and trading of copper and its contribution to the United Nations sustainable development goals.

SMM9, March 23 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- US copper giant Freeport McMoran (Freeport-McMoRan) recently announced its commitment to "Copper marked (Copper Mark)", a global standard that ensures responsible production and trading of copper and its contribution to the United Nations sustainable development goals.

In February, the International Copper Association ((ICA)) announced the creation of a copper mark, a "reliable assurance framework" developed by ICA to demonstrate the mining industry's commitment to responsible production, the "first and only framework" developed specifically for the copper industry.

Copper marks enable each site to demonstrate their performance in responsible production to customers, investors and other stakeholders.

'i am proud to announce our commitment to the copper mark, 'said Richard C. Adkerson, president and CEO of Freeport-McMoRan. Our focus on responsible production is critical to building and maintaining stakeholder acceptance. The copper mark shows our responsible production practice to the downstream market and helps to achieve our customers' responsible purchasing goals. Copper plays a vital role in developing and providing clean energy and supporting the technologies needed to support the global transition to a low-carbon economy.

As the energy transformation continues, copper use is expected to increase with the use of electric vehicles and their charging stations and renewable energy technologies (such as solar and wind), as well as the necessary connections to Electroweb. Copper demand growth should not come at the expense of sustainability.
