Volkswagen ID.4 Electric SUV will be launched soon in the United States, car owners can charge for free for three years.

SMM: it is reported that on Sept. 21, Volkswagen announced an agreement with Electrify America that the latter's charging network will provide "three years of unlimited charging" for Volkswagen's upcoming electric SUV ID.4 in the United States, which has been included in the price of ID.4.

Electrify America, the company founded by Volkswagen to settle the diesel fuel scandal with the US Environmental Protection Agency, has signed direct agreements with some carmakers to provide charging services for its new electric cars.

Now, Electrify America will use its largest outdoor DC fast charging network in the United States to provide an unlimited number of charges for the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV for three years at no extra charge in addition to the purchase price.

Giovanni Palazzo, President and CEO of, Electrify America, said: "Electrify America is committed to driving the electric vehicle industry forward, and in 2019 we are building a DC fast charging network at an average rate of 1.2 charging stations per working day. With more and more electric vehicles on the market and increasing consumer interest in electric vehicles, we are pleased to announce an agreement with Volkswagen to provide fast and convenient charging services for ID.4 owners and a new wave of electric vehicle users. "

Scott Keogh, CEO of Volkswagen's US subsidiary, said: "ID.4 is designed, configured and priced to win over SUV owners who are ready for electrification and to make them fall in love with Volkswagen again. By partnering with Electrify America to provide three years of free fast charging service for car owners, we are clearing all obstacles for mainstream compact SUV owners to switch to electrification. "

Electrify America currently has more than 470 charging stations and more than 2000 DC fast charging piles in the United States, and is expected to increase to about 800 charging stations and 3500 DC fast charging piles by the end of 2021. Last week, Electrify America also upgraded its pricing system to adopt a fairer kilowatt-hour charging model, which makes charging prices cheaper.

Volkswagen will launch a production version of the ID.4 this week, and the new car will arrive at U. S. dealerships later this year. It is reported that Volkswagen will start producing the electric SUV in the United States in 2022.

[SMM Cobalt Morning Meeting Summary] Downstream restocking momentum is insufficient, the cobalt industry chain consolidates on a weak note.
SMM Cobalt Morning Brief: This week, the cobalt industry chain continued to consolidate on a weak note overall. Refined cobalt traded around 380,000 yuan/mt. Although smelters slightly raised their offers, high inventory and weak end-use demand limited price recovery. The trading center of cobalt intermediate products moved lower. Cobalt sulphate ground lower on a weak note. Transactions of cobalt chloride and Co3O4 were sluggish. Cobalt powder remained under pressure due to the traditional off-season. The pullback in raw material prices dragged down ternary cathode precursors and ternary cathode materials. LCO remained stable with a weak bias. Future market trends still require attention on Q3 restocking and end-use demand recovery.
