China Automotive Chip Industry Innovation Strategic Alliance established in Beijing

SMM: on Sept. 19, China Automotive Chip Industry Innovation Strategic Alliance (hereinafter referred to as China Automotive Chip Innovation Alliance) was officially established in Beijing. The alliance is jointly supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and initiated by the National New Energy vehicle Technology Innovation Center.

The participating units of China Automotive Chip Innovation Alliance include whole vehicle enterprises, automotive chip enterprises, many automotive electronics related suppliers and more than 70 enterprises and institutions, such as universities and industry organizations. while combining the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, it is helpful to make up for the shortcomings of the industry, promote the experience and exchange of needed goods between industries, and finally form a new ecology around the automotive chip industry.

The reason why it is necessary to join forces with more than 70 units across fields to form the China Automotive Chip Innovation Alliance is because with the continuous development of new energy vehicles and smart vehicles in China, the demand for automotive chips is increasing. But only 10% of the chips are independently developed and produced by our country. In today's special situation, such a low rate of autonomy urgently needs to be improved. According to data from Strategy Analytics, a well-known research institution, the world's top 10 automotive semiconductor manufacturers have a market share of 67%, including Bosch and Panasonic as we know them.

Therefore, since 2018, the National New Energy vehicle Technology Innovation Center, together with a number of alliance member units, has set up more than 100 units to participate in the vehicle gauge chip test and certification working group to study and formulate independent vehicle gauge chip test and evaluation standards. After that, the third-party voluntary evaluation and certification work was carried out, which provided important technical support and accumulated experience for the application of autonomous automobile chip boarding. It is reported that the innovation strategic alliance of China's automotive chip industry will also carry out a number of work during the 14th five-year Plan period to make continuous efforts to establish information communication channels upstream and downstream of the industrial chain.

Editor's comments:

With the continuous development of China's automobile industry, more and more technical problems are being overcome by Chinese brands. In this increasingly intelligent market, how to master the core chip technology in their own hands is the next urgent problem to be solved. Whether it is forced by the current situation or for the sake of future development, it is an indisputable fact that if you master more core technology, you will be able to have more say. Thinking that the mobile phone industry in our country is making similar efforts, for example, Huawei is making great efforts to develop its own operating system, and we have to sigh that this is indeed an era that requires us to catch up in all directions.

Scan the code and apply to join the SMM New Energy Industry Exchange Group.
