SMM9 March 18: yesterday, the outer disk metal fell 0.04%, Lun copper fell 0.67%, Lun Zn fell 0.53%, Lunni fell 0.76%, Lunxi fell 1.1%, Lun lead rose 0.5%; Shanghai copper rose 0.87%, Shanghai aluminum fell 0.03%, Shanghai zinc rose 0.35%, Shanghai lead rose 0.67%, Shanghai nickel fell 0.19%, Shanghai tin fell 1.12%, thread rose 0.31%, stainless steel fell 0.21%.

The dollar index fell 0.2 per cent to 92.912 as a set of US economic data released on Thursday clouded risk sentiment. Weekly initial applications in the United States remained stubbornly high, reporting 860000 last week, with housing starts and the Philadelphia Fed manufacturing index falling.

The three major indexes of US stocks fell across the board, with the Dow down 130.40 points, or 0.47%, at 27901.98, the Nasdaq down 140.19 points, or 1.27% at 10910.28, and the S & P 500 down 28.48 points, or 0.84%, at 3357.01. Powell said on Wednesday that loose monetary policy would be maintained "until these goals, including maximum employment, are achieved." Normally, the prospect of long-term low interest rates will spur share purchases, but that was not the case on Wednesday.

In terms of precious metals, gold prices fell on Thursday, with spot gold falling the most in half a month, breaking its intraday low since Sept. 9 to $1932.97 an ounce. Bulls were disappointed that the Fed did not offer any new specific measures on monetary stimulus.

On crude, oil prices rose more than 2 per cent as oil exporters blocked the (OPEC) and its allies saying the alliance would crack down on countries that failed to comply with production cuts and planned to hold a special meeting in October if the oil market weakens further.
