[SMM Weekly selection: rare earths continue to bear pressure on the market as a whole] the domestic rare earth market continues to be under pressure this week, the prices of mainstream rare earth products are still falling, the listing prices of rare earths in the north are turning down from the previous month, and the market as a whole is still in a period of consolidation. In terms of light rare earths, the lanthanum and cerium industry remains stable, the fundamentals and trading conditions have not changed much, the price of neodymium oxide continues to fall this week, and the acceptance of high prices downstream is not high. In terms of medium and heavy rare earths, products such as terbium and gadolinium continued their downward trend this week without exception.

"SMM rare Earth Weekly report" released, the weekly report SMM will select one of the hot topics, prices, market or major changes in the industrial chain information released into a document for your reference.

This week, the domestic rare earth market continues to be under pressure, the prices of mainstream rare earth products are still falling, the listing price of rare earths in the north has turned down from the previous month, and the market as a whole is still in a period of consolidation.

In terms of light rare earths, the lanthanum and cerium industry remains stable, the fundamentals and trading conditions have not changed much, the price of neodymium oxide continues to decline this week, the acceptance of high prices downstream is not high, there are relatively many shipments in the market circulation, and the price grasp is relatively loose. The price of rare earths in the north announced in the middle of the week is significantly lower than that of last month, which also reflects the lack of confidence in the market in the short term. Generally speaking, the market is under severe pressure. As of today, the price of neodymium oxide is 33.5-339000 yuan / ton, down 3000 yuan / ton from last Friday, while the price of wrong neodymium metal is 42.5-430000 yuan / ton, down 5500 yuan / ton from last Friday.

In terms of medium and heavy rare earths, products such as terbium and gadolinium continue the downward trend this week without exception. Under the mood of buying one piece but not buying down, the current terminal consumer enterprises purchase less, the rigid demand is mainly released, and there is still a certain price expectation. This week, terbium oxide, dysprosium oxide, gadolinium oxide and other products are still in the overall consolidation down, wait-and-see mood has not subsided, order 0.3, as of today, the price of terbium oxide is 4850-4900 yuan / KK. 20 yuan / gram lower than last Friday; The price of metal terbium is 6200-6250 yuan / dry gram, down 20 yuan / dry gram from last Friday, and the price of dysprosium oxide is 1710-1730 yuan / dry gram, down 30 yuan / dry gram from last Friday.

The tax rate adjustment brought about by the formal implementation of the resource tax law last week and the reduction in the listing price of rare earths in the north this week may indeed put pressure on the market. In the current situation of lack of positive factors to stimulate terminal consumption at home and abroad, the domestic rare earth market may continue to consolidate.

Empire produces rutile pigment from Pitfield titanium ore
[SMM Titanium Flash] Empire Metals has successfully produced an uncoated rutile titanium-dioxide pigment from concentrates generated from the in-situ weathered ore at its Pitfield Titanium Project in Western Australia. The company says X-ray diffraction confirmed the TiO₂ was present as rutile. Chemical analysis initially produced 97.6% TiO₂, with sulphur accounting for much of the impurity; correcting for that anomaly gives a calculated grade of about 99.2% TiO₂. The development moves Pitfield beyond simply demonstrating titanium mineralisation toward producing a higher-value titanium product. Empire is now working on optimisation and surface coating to produce a rutile pigment suitable for architectural coatings. The company says it is also assessing titanium-metal feedstock applications. These remain laboratory and product-development results, not commercial-scale production.

[SMM Chromium Flash] FS Mining Details $500m Zimbabwe Ferrochrome Smelter and Power Plant Plans
FS Mining, a South African-registered company developing a chrome mine in Zimbabwe, is advancing plans for a US$500 million investment split between a US$100 million ferrochrome smelter and a US$400 million thermal power project, director Dr. Precious Mabuza said in an interview published September 25. The company is currently building a US$15 million wash plant as its first phase of development, and is progressing through the technical, engineering and financing stages of the planned smelter and power plant, with construction timelines dependent on completing feasibility work and securing the necessary approvals. The smelter is planned to begin with 16.5 MVA of sintering plant capacity, paired with a 25MW thermal power station in the project's first phase. Mabuza said the longer-term vision is to expand the power-generation component to 320MW, with the company hoping to extend rural electrification to communities surrounding its operations once the plant is built out. Eventual chrome production volumes will be determined once the final furnace configuration, engineering design and operating parameters are concluded, she said. Mabuza framed the investment around Zimbabwe's push for greater domestic beneficiation, noting the government has banned the export of raw minerals, including chrome, to force local value addition. She said the mine currently employs 100 people, with the company targeting 1,500 jobs at the smelter and power station once operational, and roughly 5,000 jobs across the wider value chain including mining, logistics, services and construction. The reliable baseload electricity from the planned thermal power station is central to the project's strategy, intended to support both the smelting operation and, eventually, electrification for nearby communities.
