Published: Sep 8, 2020 11:37
Wednesday (September 9) 16: 00 in the afternoon, we will see you again.

As the final year of promoting the reform of the solid waste import management system, in mid-2020, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment held a press conference to mention that "starting from 2021, the import of solid waste will be completely banned." the Ministry of Ecology and Environment will no longer accept and approve applications related to the import of solid waste. At the same time, the newly revised Law on the Prevention and Control of Environmental pollution by solid waste will come into effect on September 1 this year.

CITA Reports 36.9% Sales Growth in H1 2026, Expands Downstream Aluminium Investments Amid Profit Drop
[SMM Aluminum Express News] PT Cita Mineral Investindo (CITA) reported a 36.9% year-on-year increase in net sales to IDR 1.91 trillion in the first half of 2026, driven by stronger bauxite sales, while net cash from operating activities rose 33.1% to IDR 428.0 billion. However, net profit attributable to shareholders fell 62.1% to IDR 625.8 billion, primarily due to lower earnings from its 12.5% stake in PT Well Harvest Winning Alumina Refinery (WHWAR). CITA continued expanding its downstream aluminium investments during the period, injecting an additional IDR 99.1 billion into WHWAR to maintain its 12.5% interest, while retaining a 16% stake in PT Kalimantan Aluminium Industry (KAI). As of 30 June 2026, the company's investments in WHWAR, KAI and related downstream projects accounted for nearly 40% of total assets, highlighting its growing exposure to Indonesia's alumina and aluminium value chain.

AI System Monitors Gas Turbines at Alba's Power Station for Predictive Maintenance and Reliability
[SMM Aluminum Express News] The Nasser Centre for Science and Technology (NCST) and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) have developed an AI-powered monitoring system for gas turbines at Alba's Power Station 4 to support predictive maintenance and improve operational reliability. The system continuously monitors four gas turbines (GT-51, GT-52, GT-61 and GT-62), using AI to analyze compressor pressure, turbine blade cooling efficiency and other operating parameters to detect early signs of fouling, cooling-port blockages and other performance issues before they lead to unplanned failures. The platform integrates real-time operational data, historical records, AI analytics and automated alerts into a single system, enabling engineers to identify abnormal operating conditions and respond more quickly. The project forms part of Alba's broader digitalization strategy and ongoing collaboration with NCST to deploy artificial intelligence across industrial operations in Bahrain.
