SMM: according to the official website, the 2020 Huawei developer Conference will be held from September 10 to September 12 in Songshan Lake, Dongguan. It is understood that the meeting contains three key topics: Hongmeng system, HMS Core 5.0and EMUI 11.

Huawei developer Conference 2020 will share the latest development of Hongmeng system. Hongmeng system is the first panoramic distributed OS, based on microkernel. Huawei officially released Hongmeng system on HDC.2019 on August 9, 2019. at the same time, Huawei also announced Hongmeng system development roadmap, which mentioned that in 2020 Hongmeng OS 2.0 kernel and application framework self-development, general micro-kernel architecture, high-performance graphics stack, support for multi-language unified compilation, multi-terminal development IDE, to meet vehicle specification standards, Landing products are innovative domestic PC, watches / bracelets, car machines.

Previously, Huawei applied for a large number of trademarks related to "HarmonyOS", including HUAWEI HarmonyOS, HarmonyOS Connected and HarmonyOS Linked. Wanlian Securities analysis pointed out that in the future, in addition to improving related technologies, Hongmeng OS will gradually be used in wearable, smart screens, cars and other smart devices. In the era of the Internet of things, Hongmeng operating system is expected to become the mainstream system, which is conducive to the establishment of a healthy industrial chain ecology in our country.

Huawei will also announce the latest developments of HMS Core 5.0 at the Huawei developer conference. HMS is similar to GMS, converging core-end-cloud capabilities of Huawei terminals, including a set of open HMSApps and HMSCore, HMSCapabilities, HMSConnect, and corresponding IDE tools for development and testing. In July this year, Huawei officially announced that HMS Core5.0, has covered seven major areas: application services, graphics, media, artificial intelligence, intelligent terminals, Android, series and cloud services, etc., thus opening up Huawei's "core-end-cloud" capabilities in a more comprehensive way. In addition, Huawei will update its progress on EMU11. EMUI is an operating system developed by Huawei based on Android. It is understood that the upcoming Huawei Mate 40 series phones will be equipped with EMUI 11 system.

Minsheng Securities analysis pointed out that based on the changes in Huawei's mobile phone market share and the importance of HMS to Huawei's mobile ecology, the promotion of HMS will be a historical opportunity for domestic software manufacturers.

It mainly includes the following three major advantages: 1, to provide 400 million monthly active users for APP, and the future space continues to rise. 2. Help domestic APP to go to sea. At present, Huawei HMS covers more than 170 countries around the world. with the continuation of the global promotion of HMS, enterprises in the ecology are expected to expand from domestic to overseas, from 1.3 billion users to 3.3 billion users. 3. Enhance the profitability of APP developers in ecology. Apple Store currently earns more than $45 billion a year, while Google Store earns nearly $25 billion a year. HMS is the core carrier of Huawei's mobile phone ecology, and its own Huawei store revenue will be close to that of Apple and Google.

Empire produces rutile pigment from Pitfield titanium ore
[SMM Titanium Flash] Empire Metals has successfully produced an uncoated rutile titanium-dioxide pigment from concentrates generated from the in-situ weathered ore at its Pitfield Titanium Project in Western Australia. The company says X-ray diffraction confirmed the TiO₂ was present as rutile. Chemical analysis initially produced 97.6% TiO₂, with sulphur accounting for much of the impurity; correcting for that anomaly gives a calculated grade of about 99.2% TiO₂. The development moves Pitfield beyond simply demonstrating titanium mineralisation toward producing a higher-value titanium product. Empire is now working on optimisation and surface coating to produce a rutile pigment suitable for architectural coatings. The company says it is also assessing titanium-metal feedstock applications. These remain laboratory and product-development results, not commercial-scale production.

[SMM Chromium Flash] FS Mining Details $500m Zimbabwe Ferrochrome Smelter and Power Plant Plans
FS Mining, a South African-registered company developing a chrome mine in Zimbabwe, is advancing plans for a US$500 million investment split between a US$100 million ferrochrome smelter and a US$400 million thermal power project, director Dr. Precious Mabuza said in an interview published September 25. The company is currently building a US$15 million wash plant as its first phase of development, and is progressing through the technical, engineering and financing stages of the planned smelter and power plant, with construction timelines dependent on completing feasibility work and securing the necessary approvals. The smelter is planned to begin with 16.5 MVA of sintering plant capacity, paired with a 25MW thermal power station in the project's first phase. Mabuza said the longer-term vision is to expand the power-generation component to 320MW, with the company hoping to extend rural electrification to communities surrounding its operations once the plant is built out. Eventual chrome production volumes will be determined once the final furnace configuration, engineering design and operating parameters are concluded, she said. Mabuza framed the investment around Zimbabwe's push for greater domestic beneficiation, noting the government has banned the export of raw minerals, including chrome, to force local value addition. She said the mine currently employs 100 people, with the company targeting 1,500 jobs at the smelter and power station once operational, and roughly 5,000 jobs across the wider value chain including mining, logistics, services and construction. The reliable baseload electricity from the planned thermal power station is central to the project's strategy, intended to support both the smelting operation and, eventually, electrification for nearby communities.
