SMM9 March 3: it is reported that the underground development of Ifinkao Mining Kakoula Copper Mine continues to advance. So far, it has completed the underground development mark of more than 20 kilometers, 6 kilometers ahead of the planned target.

The Kakoula Mine plans to produce its first concentrate in the third quarter of 2021 and is expected to become the world's highest-grade large copper mine. It is estimated that 3.8 million tons of ore can be produced annually in the first five years of production, and the copper grade may exceed 6 per cent.

The company said it would release independently verified engineering and economic studies on the Camoa-Kakoula project in late September.

The Camoa-Kakoula copper project is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mining (39.6 per cent), Zijin Mining Group (39.6 per cent), Jinghe Global (0.8 per cent) and the Congolese government (20 per cent).
