SMM News: international copper industry research organization (ICSG) pointed out in the latest monthly announcement that there was a supply gap of 60, 000 tons in the global refined copper market in May and 96000 tons in April.
The global refined copper market was oversupplied by 1000 tonnes in the first five months of this year, compared with a shortfall of 270000 tonnes in the same period last year, ICSG said.
Global production of refined copper in May was 2.05 million tons and consumption was 2.11 million tons.
The shortfall of copper stocks in China's bonded areas was 135000 tons in May and 141000 tons in April.
