SMM: Chinese battery and electric car maker Condi Technology Group said on Aug. 20 that it is trying to build an electric and off-road vehicle manufacturing plant in North America.

It is reported that Condi is in preliminary negotiations with a number of partners, including local government agencies on the border between the United States and Mexico. However, the company added that the negotiations were still at an early stage and that they did not necessarily mean that a plant would be built in North America in the future. It is worth noting that Condi mentioned North America, not the United States, meaning that the company could also build a plant in Mexico.

Hu Xiaoming, chairman and CEO of Condi, said, "our strategic decision to expand into the US electric vehicle market has achieved initial success, and in the short term, we are confident that we can meet the growing demand in North America through China's existing production facilities. In the long run, however, we are actively exploring the possibility of producing electric cars locally in North America. "

Recently, Condi began accepting pre-orders for its K23 and K27 electric cars in the US, priced at $9999 and $19999, respectively, plus a federal tax credit, and new cars are expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter.
