Today, Geely Motor, Changan Automobile and Great Wall Automobile account for half of the market share of their own brands. In terms of sales alone, Geely sold 635700 vehicles from January to July, Changan sold 995900 and Great Wall sold 473400.
"fight" sales volume
According to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, sales of Chinese brand passenger cars declined slightly in July from the previous month, with a slight increase compared with the same period last year. A total of 585000 vehicles were sold, down 0.9% from the previous month, an increase of 4.5% over the same period last year, accounting for 35.1% of the total passenger car sales, an increase of 1.7 percentage points over the previous month, ending the continuous decline since March.
As the top three independent cars, Geely Motor, Changan Automobile and Great Wall Motor, sales are gradually picking up.
Geely sold 107000 cars in July, up 15% from a year earlier, and this year's cumulative sales were 635700, down 14% from a year earlier, according to the data. Affected by the epidemic, Geely's sales fell sharply in February and March, but after that, sales began to pick up month by month. According to the data, Geely's sales from April to June were 101100, 105700 and 106000 respectively, up 4 per cent, 25 per cent and 25 per cent respectively from a year earlier.
According to data, Geely's market share rose steadily from 6.51% at the beginning of the year to 6.74% in June, ranking fourth in the industry and number one among Chinese brands.
Let's take a look at Changan Automobile and Great Wall Automobile.
According to KuaiBao, Changan Automobile's July production and sales, Changan Automobile sold 164900 vehicles in July, up 38.47 percent from a year earlier. Cumulative sales from January to July were 995900, up 6.0 per cent from a year earlier.
Among the top three, Great Wall ranks last in sales, but judging from recent sales growth, Great Wall is also recovering well. Great Wall sold 78339 vehicles in July, up 29.79 per cent from a year earlier, according to data. The cumulative sales of Great Wall from January to July were 473436, down 14.53 per cent from a year earlier.
The recent rising sales performance of the three enterprises is inseparable from the promotion of star products. In July, Harvard H6 and Changan CS75 ranked first and second among SUV TOP10 with sales of 23723 and 21358, respectively, while Geely Boyue ranked seventh with 16883, according to sales data compiled by Geisch Automotive Research Institute. In terms of cars, Changan Yiyou and Geely Dihao sold 18735 and 17807 cars respectively in July, ranking ninth and 10th in TOP10.
The analysis points out that Geely's product system is perfect, the newly listed Haoyue is cheap and competitive, and the performance of other products is very stable, so the overall sales volume is relatively stable compared with last year. Changan Automobile's new CS75 PLUS and Yitou PLUS products are good and have been recognized by consumers. Great Wall's key product Harvard H6 is about to be replaced, and its sales have stalled somewhat, but after all, it has always been the champion model in the domestic SUV market, and the market heritage is still there. In terms of absolute sales, Harvard H6 is still the leader in the SUV market.
"war" energy
According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the production and sales of new energy vehicles completed 100000 and 98000 respectively in July, up 15.6% and 19.3% respectively from a year earlier. Of these, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles completed 79000 and 78000 respectively, up 17.9% and 24.2% respectively over the same period last year; and the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles completed 21000 and 19000 vehicles respectively, up 7.8% and 2.7% respectively over the same period last year.
The big cake of the new energy market, Geely Automobile, Changan Automobile and Great Wall Motor are also gradually sharing food, all of them are increasing technology investment, and new models are constantly being launched.
In 2020, Geely will launch the pure electric exclusive architecture-PMA architecture, based on which models will focus on pure electric, high performance and smart Internet as the main selling point. Changan Automobile, which launched the "Shangri-La Plan" in 2017 in an attempt to make a cake in the new energy market, already has a number of new energy models on sale, and Changan's CS55 electric version has been launched not long ago. Great Wall Automobile uses the "cat family" to directly hit the new energy market. After the listing of Ola good cats, Eula cars join hands with black cats and white cats to attack the new energy car market with a new lineup.
"cast" technology
In addition to focusing on the new energy sector, Geely Motor, Changan Automobile and Great Wall Motor are all actively increasing investment in technology.
Lemon, tank and coffee, the three major technology platforms released by the Great Wall some time ago, have attracted much attention in the industry. It is understood that lemon is positioned in the global high intelligent modular technology platform, supporting multiple models from A0 to D; the tank is positioned as an intelligent professional off-road platform, supporting SUV and pickup models above B class, with a wheelbase of 2750-3750mm, and is committed to providing extreme off-road capability; Coffee is the intelligent brand of Great Wall Automobile, which is composed of intelligent cockpit, intelligent driving and brand-new electrical and electronic architecture.
Shortly after the release of the three platforms of the Great Wall, Geely's CMA super matrix also entered the public's view, in the words of Feng Jingfeng, vice president of Geely Automobile Group: it is no longer regarding the car as a single whole, but decomposing all the functions needed to build the car in a modular way, creating each ecology of automobile manufacturing with world-class modularization, giving birth to a new generation of "scientific and technological life".
In terms of brand heritage, the root of Geely's super matrix is the cooperation between Geely and Volvo. Because of the injection of Volvo car technology, many people will upgrade Geely to a higher level and think that Geely is Volvo. Or Geely is very close to Volvo.
Technically, Changan Automobile is also actively investing. It is understood that Changan invests 5% of its sales revenue in the field of technological research and development every year. By increasing R & D investment, the global R & D system of "six countries and nine places" has been built. Take the Blue Whale Power platform, which has been built for 4 years, as an example, it is already a trump card for Changan Automobile to compete in the market. The recent market outbreak of many models in Changan is inseparable from the help of Blue Whale Power.
Ren Wanfu, an automobile industry expert, said in an interview with Geshi that technology is closely related to product quality and spare parts, but in terms of technology, independent brands have been in a weak position for a long time. With the continuous upgrading and reform of the automobile industry, for automobile companies, if they want to achieve something, they must increase their investment in independent research and development. If independent brands want to have their own competitiveness and continuously consolidate their position in the industry, they certainly need to continue to increase their technology and research and development.
