Full Electric Power Linfen, Shanxi Province to achieve Zero Emission from Public Transport

Published: Aug 17, 2020 16:15

SMM News: at present, the development of new energy vehicles is still accelerating. Linfen City, Shanxi Province recently completed the replacement of pure electric vehicles for taxis and buses ahead of schedule, taking the lead in achieving "zero emission" of urban public transport in the province, according to the Shanxi Provincial Department of Ecological Environment. The concept of "zero emission" of public transport has been introduced for many years, but not many cities have fully achieved this goal, which can be used for reference for all major cities.

What is the scale of "zero emission" public transport in Linfen?

It is reported that there are 1862 taxis and 423 buses in Linfen city. According to the plan, all taxis in Linfen will be fully electric by the end of 2020, but there are only 148 pure electric taxis at the beginning of the year. In order to achieve the target as scheduled, Linfen City invested 44.54 million yuan to subsidize the renewal of taxis, provided multi-department "one-stop" services, voluntarily selected and purchased vehicle models, and successfully completed the renewal work. Since Linfen City has replaced all urban buses with pure electric buses in 2016, it has become the first city in Shanxi Province to cover both pure electric taxis and pure electric buses.

In recent years, Linfen City has invested more than 400 million yuan to support the "zero emission" construction of public transport. at present, it has formed an urban green public transport system with "electric buses as the main body, electric taxis as the supplement and public bicycles as the extension".

Comments:

Zero emission of public transport is a new concept that appeared a few years ago, which aims to realize the comprehensive electrification of public travel modes in urban areas. Previously, only a few cities or parts of the city have realized the electrification of public travel. However, due to the large number of public transport, electric vehicle technology is still changing and other factors, a comprehensive zero-emission vision is difficult to achieve overnight. Although many cities can not fully achieve zero public transport emissions like Linfen, we can see that pure electric buses and taxis have become an important part of many cities, which is also worthy of recognition.
