SMM News: since the beginning of this year, the Serbian Zijin copper industry has accelerated the treatment of the slope of the tailing reservoir, comprehensively promoted the management of the green ecological environment in the mining area, and made great efforts to create a new model of "green mine" for Chinese-funded enterprises in Serbia.
The tailing reservoir of the old Boer Copper Mine has a large slope, heavy dust and serious wind erosion, so it is difficult to restore the ecology. After Zijin Mining was stationed, it practiced the concept of "Green Green Mountain is Jinshan and Silver Mountain", strengthened follow-up research, overcome a series of difficulties, actively invited local environmental protection units to participate, and made a great breakthrough. At present, a series of ecological restoration and greening projects have been organized and implemented, and two tailing reservoir slope greening, 191900 m2 mine greening, 55000 seedlings planting have been completed, and the mining area and factory area have taken on a new look, which has been widely recognized by the community and local employees.
Zijin Mining increased its capital to acquire the Serbian Boer Copper Mine in December 2018, which is by far the largest Chinese investment project in Serbia, and turned a loss into a profit within six months of the acquisition. At present, the Serbian Zijin Copper Industry is carrying out technical transformation and expansion of the four mines and smelters under it. When completed, it will reach 120000 tons of mineral copper and 180000 tons of smelting copper, with a reserved capacity of 200000 tons.
