SMM News: July 28, 2020, after 406 days of arduous project construction, equipment installation and production commissioning, Camoya Phase II project oxide ore successfully produced the first batch of cathode copper. On this day, the purplish red cathode copper plate slowly floated from the electrolyte, the copper plate was smooth and shiny, and the quality was qualified, marking the completion of the whole process of copper production system in oxidized ore, and the Camoya Phase II project was officially transferred from the project construction period to the trial production and operation period.

In order to ensure the orderly development of the orebodies of the Kamoya project and enhance the enterprise's economic benefits and sustainable development ability, Wanbao Minerals formulated the development strategy of "comprehensive planning, phased construction and rolling development" at the beginning of the project construction. The first phase of the project started construction in 2015 and was completed in 2016, with an annual output of 60000 tons of copper and cobalt sulphide concentrate, which quickly reached the production standard after it was put into production, resulting in good economic benefits and laying a solid foundation for the development and construction of subsequent orebodies. The second phase of the project is divided into oxidation ore project and sulphide ore project. the oxidation ore project adopts the technological process of open-pit mining-hydrometallurgy. The dressing and metallurgy project officially started construction on June 18, 2019, with an annual output of 25000 tons of standard cathode copper and 2000 tons of crude cobalt hydroxide (cobalt-containing metal).
