Sell 800000 cars? Volvo's annual sales target is difficult to achieve

Published: Jul 27, 2020 10:57

SMM: according to reports, due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, Volvo made it clear that this year has been unable to achieve the global sales target of 800000 vehicles. Hakan Samuelsson, the company's chief executive, said the goal could be delayed by a year until 2021.

Volvo sold 705500 vehicles worldwide in 2019, and this year's sales are expected to be lower than in 2019. Samuelsson revealed that Volvo lost 21% of its sales in the first half of this year, nearly 71000 vehicles, and even if it meets expectations in the second half of this year, it will only be on a par with last year's sales, so overall sales are still well below the level of the same period in 2019.

But Volvo remains confident of resuming sales growth in 2021. Samuelsson pointed out that the emergence of a large number of electric cars and the popularity of online car sales are all positive effects of COVID-19 's epidemic.

In addition, Volvo's sales in the United States and China have increased, especially in the Chinese market. Volvo's sales in China totaled 65601 vehicles from January to June, achieving three consecutive months of double-digit growth since the second quarter.
