Wenshan Aluminum Co., Ltd. has built a production line with an annual output of 30,000 tons of aluminum ash for resource utilization.

SMM News: recently, Yunnan Wenshan Aluminum Co., Ltd. has an annual output of 30, 000 tons of aluminum ash resource utilization production line completed.

Aluminum ash is the ash produced in the process of electrolytic aluminum or cast aluminum production, and it is a kind of hazardous solid waste. The aluminum ash resource utilization production line built by Yunnan Wenshan Aluminum Industry Co., Ltd. is a cooperation with Central South University, combined with multi-disciplinary scientific and technological demonstration projects such as metallurgy, chemical industry and environmental protection, and adopts the innovative technological process of "one-stage digestion + two-stage sintering". It can realize harmless and resource treatment of 30, 000 tons of aluminum ash every year, increase the output of alumina by about 20, 000 tons, and eliminate 1000 tons of organic matter in the alumina system. The by-product hydrogen is nearly 3 million Nm3 (standard cubic meters). At present, the project has completed 8 patent applications, including 4 invention patents and 4 utility model patents. Through 4 national patent applications, it has won the Special Award of the President of Yunnan Aluminum in 2019.

It is understood that at present, the domestic annual production of electrolytic aluminum is about 38 million tons, and Yunnan is about 5 million tons. Every ton of electrolytic aluminum can produce 13 kilograms of aluminum ash. The completion of the production line can deal with 30,000 tons of aluminum ash and recover 20,000 tons of alumina, indicating that the disposal of aluminum ash in the industry has entered a stage of harmless resource recycling.
