The core of the development of electric aircraft technology is electric propulsion technology. Nowadays, the progress of electric propulsion technology is very fast, the energy density of aircraft fuel is about 12.7 kWhhand kg, but at present, the maximum energy density of battery can only reach 0.5 kWhhand kg, which is very different. But you can go step by step, starting with a small plane. According to media reports, the US all-electric Cessna 208B completed its maiden flight in Moses Lake on June 28th, 2020, carrying five passengers and flying 160km, powered by Magnix's Magni500 system. The project plans to take nine passengers and sail to 160km in 2021. Compared with gasoline engine, electric propulsion system has great economic advantages, and 30 min consumes only $6 of electricity.

In early June, the European Aviation Regulatory Department issued the world's first certification for an all-electric two-seater trainer called Velis Electro, made by bat aircraft, a leading manufacturer of electric aircraft, clearing the way for the introduction of electric aircraft into commercial flight. The company expects to produce 31 electric aircraft this year, compared with more than 120 orders, mainly for flight schools. In order to reduce the net mass of the aircraft, the motor aircraft uses as much aluminum as possible, which can be said to be all-aluminum. In addition to the aircraft structure made of aluminum alloy, the battery system is almost entirely made of aluminum.

Now big aircraft manufacturers in China, Europe and the United States are chasing the holy grail of replacing large carbon-emitting aircraft with new energy planes. This is the vast blue sea of aviation aluminum applications in the future. Aluminum processing plants should work with aircraft companies to develop the application of aluminum in electric aircraft in the future, do not miss a good opportunity.
