GAC-Mitsubishi to launch New Energy vehicles in 2021

SMM News: July 8, GAC-Mitsubishi new energy vehicle project officially started in Changsha, Hunan Province, the company's new R & D center building has also been successfully completed, GAC-Mitsubishi localization research and development has entered a new stage of development.

The new energy vehicle project will launch the first new energy model jointly developed by GAC and Mitsubishi Motor, which is scheduled for mass production in 2021. It is reported that the new model will adopt international styling design and have the characteristics of electrification and intelligent network connection at the same time. GAC-Mitsubishi will give full play to the advantages of local production and break the traditional joint venture mode of "market for technology".

In October 2018, GAC-Mitsubishi R & D Center settled in Changsha with a total floor area of 85500 square meters. At present, the construction of the R & D center project is on schedule and is scheduled to be officially put into use in 2021. The R & D center will be mainly responsible for vehicle model modification research and development, technological innovation, and enhance the localization R & D capability in styling, test verification and new energy, so as to provide localization R & D support for GAC-Mitsubishi vehicles.

Mitsubishi Automotive Industry Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Commercial Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. established GAC-Mitsubishi Automobile Co., Ltd in 2012, which owns many models, such as Yige, Outlander, Jinxuan ASX, Pajero and so on. In May, GAC-Mitsubishi sold 7001 new cars, up 40.02 per cent from the previous month. With the domestic epidemic gradually preventable and controllable, GAC-Mitsubishi sales have gradually begun to increase. At present, the sales situation in many provinces and cities in China has basically returned to the pre-epidemic level.
