Bureau of Statistics: producer prices fell 3.0% in June 2020 compared with the same period last year.

SMM News: in June 2020, the ex-factory price of industrial producers across the country fell 3.0% from the same period last year, up 0.4% from the previous year; the purchase price of industrial producers fell 4.4% from the same period last year, up 0.4% from the previous year. In the first half of the year, the ex-factory prices of industrial producers decreased by 1.9% compared with the same period last year, and the purchase prices of industrial producers fell by 2.6%.

I. year-on-year changes in industrial producer prices

Among the ex-factory prices of industrial producers, the prices of means of production fell 4.2% from the same period last year, 0.9 percentage points lower than that of the previous month, and the overall level of ex-factory prices of industrial producers fell by about 3.11 percentage points. Of this total, the prices of the extractive industry, raw materials and processing industries fell by 10.5%, 8.5% and 2.0% respectively. The price of means of subsistence rose 0.6% over the same period last year, an increase of 0.1% over the previous month, affecting the overall ex-factory price level of industrial producers to rise by about 0.16%. Of this total, food prices rose 3.2 per cent, clothing prices dropped 0.8 per cent, general commodity prices fell 0.3 per cent, and consumer durables prices fell 1.8 per cent.

Among the purchase prices of industrial producers, the prices of fuel power fell by 14.2% compared with the same period last year, the prices of chemical raw materials decreased by 9.4%, the prices of non-ferrous metal materials and wires dropped by 3.3%, and the prices of ferrous metal materials decreased by 2.2%. The prices of agricultural and sideline products rose 5.8%.

II. Month-on-month changes in industrial producer prices

Among the ex-factory prices of industrial producers, the prices of means of production increased from a decline to an increase of 0.5% over the previous month, affecting the overall level of ex-factory prices of industrial producers to rise by about 0.40 percentage points. Of this total, the prices of the extractive industry, raw materials and processing industries rose by 4.9%, 0.7% and 0.2% respectively. The price of means of subsistence increased by 0.1% from 0.3% last month, affecting the overall ex-factory price level of industrial producers to rise by about 0.03 percentage points. Among them, the price of food rose 0.3%, the prices of clothing and consumer durables both dropped 0.1%, and the prices of general daily necessities remained the same.

Among the purchase prices of industrial producers, the prices of non-ferrous materials and electric wires rose 1.8%, the prices of fuel power and ferrous metals rose 1.2%, the prices of agricultural and sideline products rose 0.4%, and the prices of chemical raw materials decreased by 0.1%.
