SMM7 March 8: according to the data of the China Automobile Association, in May 2020, the production and sales of new energy vehicles continued the growth momentum of the previous month, and the sales growth rate was more obvious. In May, the production and sales of new energy vehicles completed 84000 and 82000 respectively, up 3.5% and 12.2% month-on-month, down 25.8% and 23.5% from the same period last year.
From January to May, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 295000 and 289000, down 39.7% and 38.7% respectively from the same period last year, which was 5.1% and 4.7% lower than that in January-April.
At present, the development of new energy vehicle market is booming. Many vehicle enterprises have invested in the construction of new energy vehicle projects, such as the off-line of new energy special vehicles held in Huaian BYD industrial base, marking the formal commissioning of BYD's new energy special vehicle project; Xiaopeng Automobile Zhaoqing plant will be put into production of P7, and so on.
As early as December 2017, the Zhaoqing factory, a self-built vehicle production base of Xiaopeng Automobile, completed the groundbreaking ceremony. In September 2019, all production workshops have been completely capped, pre-production and equipment debugging have begun, and the whole production process has been run and verified.
The total planning area of the project is 3000 mu, the total investment of the factory is 4 billion yuan, and the annual production capacity is 10-150000 vehicles. The plant has five workshops: stamping, welding, painting, final assembly and battery pack (Pack), with flexible production capacity of different platforms including A-class, B-class, C-class cars and SUV.
On July 6, the Huaian BYD industrial base held the new energy special vehicle off the line, marking the official commissioning of the BYD new energy special vehicle project. The first phase of the Huai'an BYD new energy special vehicle project is planned to have a production capacity of 5000 units, with an estimated annual output value of 1.8 billion yuan. The second and third phases will be built in the future, with an annual output value of 5 billion yuan after completion, becoming the core manufacturing base of BYD commercial vehicles in the country.
It is reported that two large modern factories of the Singularity Zhuzhou base project located in the Singapore Horse Industrial Park have been capped. Liu Jian, chief executive of Hunan Zhidian Intelligent New Energy vehicle Co., Ltd., the owner of the project, said that he strives to complete the project this year and put the whole vehicle into production in October. "the company has already had orders for more than 20,000 cars in the early stage, and will strive to deliver at least 10,000 cars this year."
According to the plan, the Zhuzhou base of Singularity Automobile has a total investment of 5 billion yuan, including production facilities and equipment for stamping, welding, painting, frame, final assembly and powertrain assembly, as well as supporting facilities such as new energy commercial vehicle research institute and testing ground. After the project reaches production, it can produce 50,000 pure electric intelligent commercial vehicles per year, with an annual output value of nearly 10 billion yuan.
Great Wall Motor
In November 2020, Great Wall Automobile 8 billion yuan Taizhou Gaogang District investment vehicle production project started, the main body of the project consists of Taizhou vehicle production base and Taizhou Automotive Science and Technology Industry Park. Its Great Wall Taizhou vehicle production base will mainly produce Harvard brand new platform products and new energy models, which is expected to be mass offline in December 2020.
It is reported that the number of freight trucks outside Tesla's Shanghai plant has increased significantly recently, and they are also carrying equipment for vehicle production, while a large number of new equipment indicates that Tesla is likely to officially put into production the Model Y model at the Shanghai plant within this year. It is worth mentioning that Tesla officials confirmed in January that the Fremont plant in the United States was producing a five-seat version of the Model Y and began delivering the first batch of American users in March, while international delivery in Canada also opened in June, while for major markets in Europe and Asia, delivery was previously expected in the first half of 2021. In addition, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said via Twitter in June that it would start production of the seven-seat Model Y in the fourth quarter of this year, and the first deliveries are expected to begin in October or November.
On July 6th Volkswagen announced that it had begun revamping its Emden plant, which is expected to start producing electric cars in 2022.
The ID.4 will be the first electric car to be produced at the Emden plant, a small SUV, roughly the size of Tesla's Model Y, with a range of more than 250km and a starting price of about $40, 000.
Volkswagen said the Emden plant would continue to produce Passat and Arteon, during the transition period of "several years", but eventually the plant would only produce pure electric vehicles, with an annual capacity of 300000 vehicles. As part of the plant renovation plan, Volkswagen is building a new plant covering an area of nearly 50,000 square meters, which will only be responsible for the production of electric vehicles.
Recently, FAW Toyota New Energy Branch project officially started in Tianjin, with a total investment of 8.4 billion yuan, annual production capacity of 200000 vehicles, officially put into production in June 2022, will introduce a new platform for new energy vehicles. The launch of the new energy branch project may drive 50 billion yuan of industrial output value for Tianjin every year.
FAW Red Flag
On the morning of April 15, the "three Morning" project in Jilin Province and the China FAW Red Flag New Energy vehicle Plant project officially started in 2020. The total investment of the China FAW Hongqi New Energy Automobile Plant project is 7.8 billion yuan. After the plant is completed, it will mainly produce Hongqi brand new energy vehicles and intelligent network connected vehicles. The project is scheduled to be completed and put into production in 2022, and the annual production capacity of the whole vehicle will reach 200000 vehicles. The output value will reach 60 billion yuan.
Xu Liuping, chairman of China FAW Group, said that the construction of the Hongqi new energy vehicle plant shows the ambition of China FAW based on independent innovation, as well as the substantial contraction of the global automobile industry. China FAW has strong ability and confidence to invest in the future. China FAW Hongqi New Energy Automobile Factory will become a modern intelligent factory with first-class technology, first-class energy consumption management and first-class operational efficiency.
Guangzhou Automobile Toyota
It is reported that Guangzhou Auto Toyota will build a fifth production line, which has sold an industrial land in Nansha, Guangzhou for 919 million yuan, covering an area of 755000 square meters. The production base plans to have an annual production capacity of 200000 vehicles, and the total construction period of the basic supporting project is 1100 calendar days, which means that the production line is expected to be completed and put into production in 2022.
Reported that the production line mainly produces new energy vehicle products, the project has entered the infrastructure survey, design and construction of the general contract bidding stage. The relevant person in charge of GAC Toyota has said that GAC Toyota will deepen the hybrid strategy and make every effort to promote and popularize hybrid technology. This means that the production line will produce hybrid models as well as pure electric models.
