SMM: Chile's trade surplus in June was US $1.391 billion, while copper exports were US $2.67 billion, up 0.6 per cent from a year earlier, the Chilean central bank said on Tuesday.
Exports totaled US $5.414 billion, up 2.3 per cent from the same period last year, while imports fell significantly by 18 per cent to US $4.023 billion due to blockade measures in Chile affected by the new crown virus outbreak.
Chile's leading copper miners have produced more copper since early April than they did a year ago. But copper prices rose in June as unions warned of a "worrying" increase in the number of workers suffering from illness and companies would reassess operational continuity.
