SHANGHAI, Jul 2 (SMM) – Chilean copper miner Antofagasta has agreed to supply Chinese smelters Tongling Nonferrous and Jiangxi Copper with copper concentrates in the first half of 2021 at treatment and refining charges (TC/RCs) of $60.8/mt and 6.08 cents/lb, SMM learned.
The came after the failure of the negotiation between Antofagasta and Japanese smelters over copper concentrate supply during July 2020 to June 2021.
SMM copper concentrate index, which tracks TCs for spot trades of imported copper concentrate in China, stood at a multi-year low of $51.49/mt for the week ended June 19.
