An alumina refinery in Shanxi cut 1 million mt/year of capacity due to equipment accident

An alumina refinery in north-central China’s Shanxi province shut down a production line with an annualised capacity of 1 million mt following an equipment accident, sources told SMM on June 28.

SHANGHAI, Jun 28 (SMM) – An alumina refinery in north-central China’s Shanxi province shut down a production line with an annualised capacity of 1 million mt following an equipment accident, sources told SMM on June 28.


It remains unclear when the capacity will resume. The refinery was designed with a capacity of 2.2 million mt/year, and it kept 2 million mt/year of capacity in operation before the accident.
