Russia Telecom plans to build a new optical fiber network system to connect the eastern and western regions

SMM News: Russia Telecom Rostelecom has launched a project to build a new optical fiber network system, (TEA NEXT), connecting the western and eastern borders of the country.

The plan will be developed by Atlas, a start-up of Rostelecom, with support from financial and strategic partners, including a Russian bank and a number of international investors and telecommunications operators, with a total investment expected to reach $500m.

According to the design path, the fiber optic network mainline will pass through St. Petersburg, Teville (Rostelecom's Udomlya data center), Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, TNK, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Ulan Ude, Chita, Khabarovsk and Vladivostok (Hlabarovsk).
