Which "surprise" new technologies will be released by Tesla Battery Day or push Tesla to new heights?

SMM6 March 21: on June 20, it was reported that Tesla Battery Day and Tesla shareholders' meeting in 2020 may be held together, and after the time of Tesla Battery Day, which has been circulated for many times, the timing of Tesla Battery Day seems to be becoming more and more clear. However, since large-scale gathering activities are not allowed before July 7, the exact date of Battery Day will be announced after the week of July 4.

After years of development and technology accumulation, every move of Tesla products has touched the hearts of consumers and investors. Tesla battery day can not be held for a long time, which has triggered all kinds of market speculation. So what are the possibilities of this year's Battery Day?

First of all, the market for Tesla home-made batteries is more likely. Earlier, the media reported that a secret project called "Roadrunner" had emerged inside Tesla. At present, the sales of Tesla's domestic cars in China have a good performance as soon as they start, but if they want to occupy an absolutely dominant position in the Chinese market, they still need to work hard to meet the consumption habits of the Chinese people. first of all, reducing costs is the most important problem, and the decline in cost-driven prices is very likely to lead to further growth in Tesla's sales.

It is predicted that the "Roadrunner" project is to achieve mass production of new batteries and increase battery energy density, thus making the cost lower. The new cell uses technology developed by Tesla's internal team, Tesla's Canadian research laboratory, and acquired through acquisitions. It is understood that Tesla's goal is to reduce the cost of batteries to $100 / kWh, so that the price of electric vehicles is about the same as that of ordinary fuel vehicles without subsidies.

In addition, in February this year, the media revealed that Tesla may have acquired a lithium-ion battery specialist SilLion Inc.. SilLion is a small company based in Louisville, Colorado that specializes in high-load silicon anodes and electrodes for commercial cylindrical batteries. It was also reported earlier that Tesla is hiring a "battery production engineer" and that Tesla may be preparing to build a pilot battery production line in Fremont, California.

Second, Tesla previously announced the use of cobalt-free batteries, from the current information, the short-term or Ningde era and as the main, the use of lithium iron phosphate batteries with more advantages in price, but also to achieve the goal of localization and cost reduction. Due to the high price of cobalt, mixed into the battery, it is not conducive to enterprises to reduce costs and expand the market, so Tesla has been through technological innovation to achieve the battery "de-cobalt".

Tesla Canada Lab, a project funded by Tesla as early as 2016, is made up of a team of scientists led by Jeff (Jeff Dahn), a heavyweight in lithium-ion battery research and at the forefront of battery research and innovation for more than 40 years. In February 2019, Dagen's team published a paper that directly "negated" the value of cobalt. It is considered that cobalt can not significantly reduce the activity level of electrolytes at high temperature, so cobalt is an unnecessary material in high nickel NCA (nickel content > 90%) materials. Recently, Posco said that the company has successfully developed NCMA cathode materials and obtained customer certification. It is believed that cobalt-free cathode materials are also expected to make breakthroughs.

Finally, there are many people in the market who think that Tesla will use Maxwell's dry electrode technology. Maxwell claims that dry electrodes can reduce costs by 20 per cent compared with wet electrodes. At the same time, in terms of service life, Maxwell battery technology can maintain nearly 90% capacity after nearly 1500 cycles. The electrode can achieve an energy density of more than 300 Wh / kg in the current demonstration battery and is moving towards the goal of 500 Wh / kg.

There are too many guesses about Tesla's Battery Day market. The postponement of Battery Day will not affect Tesla's technological innovation. While this Battery Day is expected to bring new news, the most important thing is the expectation of the market for new technology. Tesla is expected to bring new solutions to battery safety, mileage and other issues of concern to everyone.

TSLA.US opened 5.85% higher on the night of June 10th, and since then the shock has risen, with a total market capitalization of $185.712 billion. The market capitalization surpasses Toyota and ranks first in the world. As countries around the world vigorously promote the development of new energy vehicles, there are still many possibilities for Tesla's future.

Perhaps Tesla has been on the road of self-research and development of batteries for a long time. From the point of view of enterprises, under the current closed-loop mode of production and operation, it will bring more possibilities for enterprises to reduce costs and improve their operations.

[SMM Chromium Flash] Tharisa's Underground Transition at Its Chrome-PGM Flagship Mine Remains on Track
Tharisa confirmed its transition to underground mining at its flagship Tharisa Mine, on the southwestern limb of South Africa's Bushveld Complex, remains on time and within budget, running in parallel with the Karo Platinum Project's construction financing in Zimbabwe. Development of the Apollo underground complex, which commenced in March 2026, is progressing toward first run-of-mine ore in the current quarter, with steady-state production of 255,000 mt per month targeted by the third quarter of calendar year 2029. The Orion complex is expected to follow, targeting first ore in financial year 2031 and steady-state production by the third quarter of calendar year 2033. Together, Tharisa said the two underground complexes are expected to extend mining at the Tharisa Mine, which co-produces chrome concentrate alongside PGMs from the same orebody, for more than 60 years beyond depletion of the current open pit. The underground project is fully funded through development loans from Absa and Standard Bank and an asset-based revolving facility from Nedbank, funding that sits separately from the US$300 million Nordic bond raised this week for Karo. The company did not break out what share of Apollo or Orion's future run-of-mine ore output will be chrome-bearing material versus PGM-bearing material, leaving the underground transition's specific impact on Tharisa's chrome concentrate volumes still to be clarified as the two complexes ramp up toward steady state.

[SMM Chromium Flash] Tharisa: Chrome Cash Flow Continues to Fund PGM Growth as Spot Chrome Price Hits $290/mt
Tharisa said its co-mining model, in which chrome cash flow supports PGM development through the commodity cycle, continues to underpin its growth strategy, with spot chrome prices trading at US$290 per mt as of early September 2026. The company disclosed the figure alongside news that it had secured a Special Mining Lease Agreement with the Government of Zimbabwe, a long-term PGM offtake agreement with Valterra, and priced a US$300 million, five-year senior secured Nordic bond, three milestones the company says de-risk and fully fund construction of its Karo Platinum Project on Zimbabwe's Great Dyke. CEO Phoevos Pouroulis said the completed milestones mark a transformative moment for Tharisa, describing the group as evolving into a multi-asset, multi-jurisdictional PGM and chrome producer with a combined mine life exceeding 60 years once Karo and the Tharisa Mine's underground transition are both in production. While the financing package itself is structured around PGM development, chrome remains the funding backbone of the strategy: Tharisa's disclosure frames chrome revenue as the through-cycle cash generator that allows the group to pursue capital-intensive PGM growth projects such as Karo without relying solely on external financing, a dynamic reaffirmed rather than changed by this week's bond pricing.
