SHANGHAI, Jun 19 (SMM) – Operating rates across lead-acid battery producers in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei and Hebei provinces averaged 63.42% in the week ended June 19, unchanged from the previous week, showed an SMM survey.

Some small and medium-sized producers that were not included in the calculation of the average operating rate, however, have suspended production following the arrival of the growing season.

Inventory pressure at large producers have eased on the back of sales promotion aimed at meeting sales and production goals at the middle of the year.

On the other hand, most of producers remained cautious about purchasing the raw material lead, given the need to recoup funds at mid-year, the rally in lead prices and a pessimistic outlook. Large and medium-sized producers primarily relied on supply under long-term contracts.
