SMM: it is reported that the French government has launched a new incentive to trade in new cars, which will benefit small cars and internal combustion engine vehicles with carbon dioxide emissions below 137g / km under the WLTP standard.
The plan is expected to boost sales of minicars and small cars, which have been severely affected in the past few years because cross-border cars and SUV models are more popular with consumers. Even if the same platform is used, the SUV is not as fuel efficient as a small car because of its larger and heavier body.
The total value of the French incentive will reach 1.3 billion euros ($1.45 billion), and electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles will receive higher subsidies, thus increasing consumer demand for electric models. France is trying to recover its economy from the blockade caused by the epidemic. At the same time, the government of French President Emmanuel Macron (Emmanuel Macron) also wants to speed up the country's transition to electric cars.
France's incentives are among the strongest in Europe, and consumers can get a subsidy of up to 13000 euros when buying new electric cars if they give up an old, high-emission car. The French government estimates that about 200000 high-engine cars will be replaced through the program.
Details released by the French government on June 12th show that when buying new or used diesel or gasoline vehicles, consumers can enjoy a subsidy of 3000 euros if the vehicle's carbon dioxide emissions are less than 137g / km (WLTP standard, 109g / km NEDC standard) and household income is less than a certain amount. In low-emission areas, including the central Paris area, there is an additional subsidy of 1000 euros for the purchase of eligible vehicles. However, if you want to enjoy the subsidy, the price of the car purchased cannot exceed 50,000 euros. Electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids with a pure electric range of more than 50 kilometers can enjoy a replacement subsidy of 5000 euros.
French media say about 80 gasoline models are eligible for subsidies, including Fiat 500s, Renault Clio and Peugeot 208s. Low-end models of some high-end brands are also on the subsidy list, such as the BMW 1-Series and 2-Series and Mercedes-Benz A-Class and B-Class. In addition, small SUV, including Renault Captur, Peugeot 2008, Skoda Kamiq and Volkswagen T-Cross, are also on the subsidy list.
