Ghana's industrial gold production increased by 6% in 2019 compared with the same period last year.

SMM5: Ghana's industrial gold production rose 6% year-on-year in 2019, totaling 2.989 million ounces to 2.808 million ounces in 2018, the Ghana Mining Association said at its annual meeting on Friday. Small-scale gold production fell 20 per cent to 1.588 million ounces from a year earlier to 1.984 million ounces in 2018, possibly due in part to restrictions on illegal mining.

Gold mining companies active in Ghana include Newmont Newmont,Gold Fields,Kinross and AngloGold Ashanti.

Among other metals, Ghana's manganese production increased by 18% in 2019 and bauxite production increased by 10%. Diamond production fell 41 per cent year-on-year to 33789 carats, compared with 57531 carats in 2018.
