SHANGHAI, May 25 (SMM) – Silicon plants in Liangshan and Ya’an of Sichuan province, one of China’s major production areas of silicon, restarted operations on May 25 as most areas in Sichuan enter the rainy season.

The newly-opened silicon mills will mostly produce non-oxidised 553# silicon. Some producers signed sales contracts before the generation of output, with prices roughly the same as the current spot prices.

SMM assessments showed that spot prices of non-oxidised 553# silicon (Si≥98.7%) in east China at 10,300-10,400 yuan/mt (delivered to factories with VAT included) as of May 25, flat over the past two weeks. Prices of oxidised 553# silicon in east China stood at around 11,000 yuan/mt as of May 25, unchanged over the past week.
