SMM May 19th spot Express of Ternary Materials: orders in the power market drop sharply and the price of ternary materials is difficult to rise.

Published: May 19, 2020 12:46

SMM May 19th ternary material spot comment: at present, the mainstream quotation of 523 power market is 11-118000 yuan / ton, the downstream power market demand is weak, overseas orders continue to reduce, the market turnover is less, and the price remains unchanged. 523 digital market quotation is mainly 9.5-105000 yuan / ton, the market competition is fierce, many enterprises reduce the price to ship the goods.

The price of cobalt salt in the upstream rose slightly, and the price of nickel salt remained strong, but the demand in the downstream of the precursor was weak, the price was difficult, and the price of ternary materials was difficult to rise. Although overseas European car companies have resumed production one after another, the speed of resuming work of the whole car factory is relatively slow, and the overseas export order of the material factory has not been resumed for the time being.

Orders in the domestic power market have dropped sharply this month, and some large battery manufacturers have no purchasing demand, which has a great impact on the whole market. The operating rate of a small number of large ternary material factories has dropped sharply this month, while the operating rate of other material factories has basically been maintained last month.

The demand in this month's digital market is the same as that of last month, but the reduction in demand in the power market has led to an aggravation of the imbalance between supply and demand in the whole market, fierce competition for enterprise orders, and difficult for the price of ternary materials to rise.

Mercuria Acquires First Copper and Cobalt Batch from DRC's State-Owned EGC Company
Energy and commodities trader Mercuria recently announced the completion of its first copper and cobalt transaction with the Democratic Republic of Congo's (DRC) state-owned cobalt company, EGC, marking a significant step forward in their cooperation in the field of critical metals. The deal was reached against the backdrop of the DRC government's introduction of a cobalt export quota system last year, while also requiring the implementation of EGC's mineral supply chain management and responsible sourcing standards in the artisanal and small-scale mining sector. Under the arrangement, the copper cathodes involved in the transaction will be shipped to markets such as the US, the UAE, or Saudi Arabia.
