China issued 7th batch of metals scrap import quotas for 2020

The China Solid Waste and Chemicals Management Bureau, a unit of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, granted import allowances for 10,423 mt of high-grade copper scrap to 14 companies in the latest release, bringing the cumulative quotas for this year to 540,184 mt.

SHANGHAI, May 19 (SMM) – China's environmental authorities on Monday issued the seventh batch of waste copper, aluminium and steel scrap import quotas for 2020.


The China Solid Waste and Chemicals Management Bureau, a unit of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, granted import allowances for 10,423 mt of high-grade copper scrap to 14 companies in the latest release, bringing the cumulative quotas for this year to 540,184 mt.


In the sixth batch for this year, 2,150 mt of copper scrap import quotas went to six companies.


Quotas for aluminium scrap in the latest seventh batch stood at 1,480 mt, compared with 1,030 mt in the sixth batch, with the cumulative quotas for this year reaching 478,159 mt.


For steel scrap, the scrap management bureau issued 310 mt of import quotas in the latest batch, bringing the cumulative amount for this year to 11,540 mt.
