NBS: China primary aluminium output increased 2.4% YoY in January-April

China produced 2.97 million mt of primary aluminium in April, barely changed from the previous month but up 1.5% from the same month of 2019, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released on Friday.

SHANGHAI, May 15 (SMM) – China produced 2.97 million mt of primary aluminium in April, barely changed from the previous month but up 1.5% from the same month of 2019, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released on Friday.

 

That brought the production of the metal in the January-to-April period to 11.83 million mt, up 2.4% from the same period last year, smaller than an increase of 2.7% seen in January-March.

 

NBS data also showed that China's production of 10 nonferrous metals, including copper, aluminium, lead, zinc and nickel, grew 2.1% month on month and 3.8% year on year to 4.93 million mt in April.

 

For the first four months of 2020, total production of the 10 metals came in at 19.12 million mt, up 2.6% from the same period last year, compared to a 2.1% increase in the March quarter.
