Phased capacity of Wenshan Aluminium’s 500,000 mt/year project came online on May 5

The phase I electrolytic tanks of Wenshan Aluminium’s 500,000 mt/year aluminium smelting project supported by hydropower in southwest China’s Yunnan province was put online on May 5, according to sources.

SHANGHAI, May 9 (SMM) – The phase I electrolytic tanks of Wenshan Aluminium’s 500,000 mt/year aluminium smelting project supported by hydropower in southwest China’s Yunnan province was put online on May 5, according to sources. 


The phased capacity contains 62 electrolytic tanks, which are 500KA new integrated prebaked anode aluminium electrolytic cells. The phase II electrolytic tanks are still in the pipeline. 


It is understood that Wenshan Aluminum, a subsidiary of Yunnan Aluminum, runs an alumina refinery as well and it produced 266,000 mt of alumina in the first quarter of 2020.
