Chile's Codelco copper output jumped 14.8% YoY in March

Copper production from Chile’s state-owned Codelco—the world’s largest copper miner—rose 14.8% to 147,600 mt from a year ago, according to data from the country’s copper commission Cochilco.

SHANGHAI, May 8 (SMM) – Copper production from Chile’s state-owned Codelco—the world’s largest copper miner—rose 14.8% to 147,600 mt in March from a year ago, according to data from the country’s copper commission Cochilco.

 

This brought the mining company’s copper output for the first quarter of the year to 386,600 mt, with a year-over-year increase of 4.2%.

 

Codelco, on Thursday reportedly said it was maintaining its production and shipments according to its 2020 plan despite disruption to its operations brought about by the coronavirus outbreak.
