China bauxite imports expanded 10.6%YoY in March

China’s imports of bauxite increased 10.6% to 10.01 million mt in March from a year earlier, growing faster than the rate of 9.64% in the January-to-February period, according to data from China’s General Administration of Customs.

SHANGHAI, Apr 27 (SMM) – China’s imports of bauxite increased 10.6% to 10.01 million mt in March from a year earlier, growing faster than the rate of 9.64% in the January-to-February period, according to data from China’s General Administration of Customs.

 

The Republic of Guinea remained the biggest bauxite exporters to China, exporting 4.45 million mt of bauxite to China last month.

 

China’s primary aluminium imports grew 35% year on year to 5,409 mt in March, with 2,600 mt from Russia, making the country the biggest primary aluminium exporter to China.

 

As for alumina, the biggest supplier to China was Australia. China imported 338,653 mt of alumina last month, with 159,770 mt coming from Australia.

 

For the same month, China imported 76,672 mt of aluminium scrap, down 39% year on year.
